A nice mid 80s Penguin English language copy of this classic allegorical adventure novel by early 20th-century French novelist René Daumal
The story follows the expedition of a mountaineering group who aim to climb Mount Analogue - a huge mountain on a surreal continent, invisible and inaccessible to the outside world, which can only be perceived by the application of obscure knowledge
Noted as one of the sources for Jodorowsky's cult film 'The Holy Mountain', it's a bizarre and thrilling tale. Tragically, Daumal died before completing the novel, giving it an emotive, abrupt ending, mid-sentence. The unfinished story was first published in French in 1952
This edition features an introduction by Roger Shattuck
