    A nice BFI VHS of Andrei Tarkovsky's mysterious Soviet sci-fi 'Solaris' (1972), based on Stanislaw Lem's 1961 novel of the same name

    The film follows a psychologist who is sent to a space station orbiting a distant planet in order to discover what caused its crew of three scientists to fall into emotional crises. Once there he finds himself encountering the same phenomena. A sci fi/art classic and a deeply atmospheric, hypnotic and profound viewing experience not to be missed. Excellent score by Eduard Artemyev, too..
