Early 90's Fugazi 'This is not a Fugazi T-Shirt' White T-Shirt

The legendary “This is Not A Fugazi” T-Shirt with the “You Are Not What You Own” line from the Fugazi song ‘Merchandise’ reverse, designed and created by JSR Underworld Merch, Boston in the early 90’s. Super soft cotton, Fruit of the Loom tagged shirt, lots of wear around neck as pictured, delcicate around the neck, but feels precious in your hands. As you may or may not know Fugazi never made merch and neither did Dischord Records, they were all about super affordable shows and records and impressively kept it that way throughout their existence. Mackaye has also been since quoted as saying “i just don’t give a f about T-shirts.” which is fair if your hearts just not in it. Consequently the booters were out there in droves exploiting a niche in the market for Fugazi tees, so how did this one make it thru? Legend has it that Ian Mackaye had made it is personal mission to track down these producers and get them shut down…until he came across one particular design/production house -

“I managed to trace one design back to a fairly well-known t-shirt company in the Boston area, and I called to tell them to cut it out. I spoke to the main guy there, and, of course, he wanted to do a deal. And, of course, the answer was still no. Still, we had a nice chat. He was curious why we didn’t want to sell shirts, and after I explained our position, he seemed to respect it. About one month later, a friend at a record store alerted me to the ‘This is not a Fugazi t-shirt’ shirt. I traced it back to the same Boston dude. What a smart MF he was! I called him up and said, ‘Okay, you’re funny and you’re creative, so let’s see how creative you are with accounting.’ I asked him to choose an organization doing good work in his community and give them what would amount to the band’s royalty for the shirts. I think he chose a women’s shelter up there, and as far as I know he sent them money right up until he quit the business.’” - As this was originally intended as a charity based T-Shirt the buyer can nominate a charity of their choice of which we will donate 50% of the profits too.
