1968 Penguin books copy of human rights activist Malcolm X's monumental autobiography
First published in 1965, the book was the result of a collaboration between X and journalist Alex Haley, based on a series of interviews the pair conducted between 1963 and Malcolm's assassination. Primarily, it outlines Malcolm X's philosophy of black pride, black nationalism, and pan-Africanism. Haley's warm and vivid foreword (included here) was written after the leader was killed
